Spark Student Motivation - Googly Eye Point of View Trackers

Quick link up with my super sweet friend Joanne at Head Over Heels for Teaching for

Last year all over the blogging world I saw these cute little finger eye thingies:

I wanted some too, but I never saw them anywhere and really had no reason to buy them. But then just after Christmas I was walking through Target past all the school supplies (which I look at no matter what) and there they were and an idea struck. I would use them for our point of view unit.

So that is what we are doing. Each student has a pair and they put them on when they are reading a text to determine point of view, keep them on while writing their responses. We even wear them while writing from a different point of view. We are LOVING them. My students ask, "Should we have our eyes on for this?" and I say "Yes!!".

So if you have seen the eyes and wanted some but did not know why maybe you can use them so that your students can see whose eyes we are seeing a story from or telling a story from!! Very motivating : )

Be sure to check out Joanne's blog for more ideas!

  1. OMG! So cute and fun! (I feel like I have some of these eyes...hmmm...now to find them to use for point of view). I love when simple things like this get our students excited! And, even better that they're asking to use them! Thanks for linking up BBB!

  4. This is adorable! I know my students would love this. We just talked about 1st and 3rd person last week, but my lesson wasn't nearly as cute as yours!
